End-of-year Giving Letter

Dear Klein ISD Education Foundation Friends and Families,

As this year closes, we invite you to celebrate with us the achievements the Foundation accomplished this year. It is because of your support we can empower our educators to make such a difference in the lives of our students.

In 2016, the Foundation awarded $151,300 in grants across Klein ISD to projects and programs focused on innovation, student engagement, and integration of new technologies, all to foster excellence in education and meaningful learning for our students. Your support provides the opportunity for students to learn everything from computer coding to running their own school newspaper. We are creating an environment that inspires our students and teachers to lead and learn in a whole new way.

The STEAM Express is another example of how incredible vision, passion for innovative learning and committed donors can change the lives of students. The STEAM Express is a custom-built mobile classroom used to bring age-appropriate, interactive hands-on activities and experiments to schools across the district. Students now are exposed to different types of learning in the critical areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and math. This year, students have the chance to engage in current career stations such as Makerspaces (3D printing and creativity), Botany, Forensics, Space Exploration, and Robotics. “As visitors explore careers on the Klein ISD STEAM Express, they have a great opportunity to guide their future,” said Bill Nebeker, Program Coordinator for the STEAM Express. The program has worked with more than 52,000 students and 17,000 community members as it has traveled across our community and serves as another example of how we can, together, build a legacy of excellence in education.

Since the fall of 2001, the Klein ISD Education Foundation has funded more than $1.5 million in teacher grants, $10,000 in mini-technology grants, $29,023 in break-through challenge grants, and more than $329,000 for the STEAM Express program. We are grateful to our donors, volunteers, Board of Directors, teachers and community for helping us support dynamic learning throughout all our schools.

You are an essential part of the Foundation and its investment in the education and future of our students and community. This year’s Annual Giving Campaign goal is $5,000. Please give in support of the Foundation to continue our efforts to change the lives of our students every day.
